The Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe is now a partner of NEOMA Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development Chair

Published on 18 January 2023 by Dominique

The Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe, one of NEOMA’s longstanding associates has now become a partner of the Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development Chair. A leader in the banking sector, the CEGEE is determined to step up its own environmental transition and provide its customers with ever better support in the face of these complex challenges.

Serving the ecological transition in business

This partnership is a perfect illustration of the Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe’s desire to further its own ecological transition thinking whilst sharing the Chair’s findings with its customers (including companies, local authorities, associations, etc.). “This partnership is the logical continuation of our long-standing association with NEOMA. It is further demonstration of our bank’s role in working actively with all those who contribute to enhancing the reputation and development of the region,” says Eric Saltiel, Executive Board member in charge of the CEGEE’s Resources division.

It is also the first time that we have made such a commitment to actors in the economy and in the world of higher education and research and we are delighted to be doing so with NEOMA.”

The Caisse d’Epargne Grande Est Europe will therefore benefit from the research carried out by the Chair, transferable business cases and tools designed to drive sustainable action plans. “The ecological transition is a major concern for companies today and the bio-economy is a new approach in this field,” explains Nicolas Béfort, Chairholder of NEOMA. “To address the complexity of these issues fully and to be able take part in the debate in an informed manner, the Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est will benefit from our cutting-edge research.”

Making the bio-economy a major lever for development in the region

The Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe joins the Chair’s long-standing partner, the Marne en Champagne and Grand Reims CCI

“The Marne en Champagne CCI is renewing its support for the NEOMA Chair, which provides genuine added value to the region,” explains Sylvain Mary, member of the Marne en Champagne CCI. “Our concerns about the bio-economy and carbon neutrality means that the Chair is directly involved in business activities and we applaud the arrival of the Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe as a sponsor.”

“Our region is committed to innovation and research in response to environmental concerns and the bio-economy is a major lever in this challenge,” says Catherine Vautrin, President of Greater Reims. “We have backed NEOMA’s Bio-economy and Sustainable Development Chair from the start and we follow its findings closely. I am therefore delighted with this new partnership with the Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe. It will play an active role in reconciling our development objectives with our ecological and agricultural ambitions.”

The Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development Chair, an ecological transition decoding body

How to succeed in and benefit from the ecological transition? How to optimise the use of resources whilst respecting planetary boundaries? How to develop new sustainable products? These are some of the main research questions being asked by NEOMA’s Bio-economy and Sustainable Development Chair since 2012. Researchers continue to decode the major concerns companies are facing in order to move on from the era of fossil fuels.
