Accounting, Control & Legal Affairs

The Department of Accounting, Control & Legal Affairs brings together the skills for evaluating, analysing, and managing the performance and understanding of legal issues that companies face. Drawing on their academic and professional expertise, the Department’s professors take a pedagogical approach, using simulations and case studies to place the company being studied at the heart of their teaching. Through the ongoing involvement of professionals, such as accountants, auditing firms and legal directors, we are able to ensure that our students are exposed to real-life corporate situations.

The Department’s research activities focus on the areas of measuring and evaluating performance (financial and non-financial), budget analysis, auditing, IFRS, legal engineering, risk management, accounting and financial reporting, communication, and corporate legal strategies. This focus helps both students and companies to analyse and understand the functioning of key tools and practices, as well as the standards of accounting, control, and legal issues that managers face, in order to make optimal decisions for their organisations. Our faculty members’ work has appeared in prestigious journals, such as Organization Studies, the Journal of Business Ethics, and the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting.
