European Centre for Biotechnology and Bioeconomy (CEBB)

The NEOMA BS Chair in Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development is a member of the European Centre for Biotechnology and Bioeconomy (CEBB), alongside the AgroParisTech Chair in Industrial Agro-Biotechnology, the CentraleSupélec Chair in Biotechnology and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA) Chair, AFERE.

The European Centre of Biotechnology and Bioeconomy (CEBB) combines the scientific and technical skills and expertise of four chairs, from AgroParisTech, CentraleSupélec, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne and NEOMA BS. It is both a technological showcase and a multidisciplinary research centre for biotechnology, biomaterials and green chemistry.

The CEBB focuses on developing the value of bioresources as well as the biorefinery and food-industry by-products. The CEBB’s presence at the Pomacle-Bazancourt biorefinery reflects the emphasis placed upon academic research and its transmission to the regional economy.

The AgroParisTech ABI Chair boasts expertise in industrial biotechnology, green chemistry and process engineering. The ABI Chair’s researchers use a multidisciplinary approach to develop new processes for transforming agricultural by-products into high value-added chemicals.

The CentraleSupélec Chair in Industrial Biotechnology operates in three fields: identification and conversion of lignocellulosic materials, biotransformation and separation techniques. All of these fields build upon a set of modelling, simulation and visualisation skills, geared towards modelling living organisms and moving to an industrial scale.

URCA’s AFERE (Agroressources FERmentation Enzymes) Chair develops white biotechnology processes using microorganisms and enzymes isolated in nature to extract and turn plant components, particularly agricultural by-products (e.g. straw, bran, corn cobs), into high value-added molecules (e.g. anti-ageing molecules, antioxidant molecules, detergent molecules).
